Position Summary:
C.A.C. Industries is seeking an experienced Controller to join its growing accounting and finance team in Long Island City, NY. This individual will support the Senior Controller while overseeing the accounting and financial operations for multiple affiliate entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, preferably within the heavy civil construction industry, and possess hands-on experience with CMiC and Sage 300.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional coming from either public accounting or private industry, with a strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and financial reporting within a construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the accounting activities for multiple affiliate companies.
  • Assist the Senior Controller with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Monitor project accounting, job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and revenue recognition.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Coordinate with project management and operations teams to ensure financial accuracy on active projects.
  • Support external audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to management.
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and contractual requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation preferred but not required.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is required.
  • Heavy civil construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in both public accounting and/or private industry environments will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Construction accounting.
    • Job costing.
    • WIP schedules.
    • Percentage-of-completion accounting.
    • Financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with CMiC and Sage 300 is highly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
